Electrification is a key pathway to industrial decarbonization. With less than 20% of India’s industrial energy demand currently electrified, the country has a significant opportunity to accelerate the transition to cleaner and more resilient energy systems.
The recent global energy crisis has further reinforced the critical importance of energy security, industrial decarbonization, and electrification. Heat pumps are emerging as one of the most energy-efficient and scalable solutions for industrial and commercial heating, enabling secure, sustainable, and low-carbon operations.
In this context, CII has formed a dedicated Heat Pump Alliance to bring together key stakeholders across the ecosystem through a structured and collaborative approach.
OBJECTIVES
Accelerate the adoption of heat pumps as a key pathway for thermal electrification
Identify and promote underexplored applications of heat pumps across sectors
Facilitate introduction and adoption of next-generation high-temperature heat pumps
Support research and development of a robust domestic heat pump ecosystem
Strengthen domestic manufacturing, innovation, product development and local value chains
Facilitate policy and regulatory dialogue for financing mechanisms
